The new server room
Dave arrived a bit too early so he decided to enter the building and wait patiently in the corridor. After all, it was only a quarter so he might as well listen to the music on his player or read a book. But he was too nervous to read. It was his third interview, but he had never been so stressed out. Perhaps that was because the previous positions had not been as serious and demanding as this one. He was only applying for a gatekeeper position, but the company was much bigger and much more respected. You know, one of those corporations everybody has heard of. He was going to wait, but as soon as he sat down in the armchair, a young woman appeared in the corridor. She introduced herself and asked Dave to come in. She led him straight into their server room, which was more like a huge data centre. She explained how everything worked and how to care for the equipment. Dave was a bit confused about all this information. He was only supposed to post letters, answer emails and welcome guests, wasn"t he? But it turned out that it was more than that. The woman explained that they were in fact going to provide some basic training for him as far as the server room was concerned. The IT specialist didn"t really have time to look after all that equipment and all sorts of accessories. Well, why not try something new, Dave thought.
