Introducing the Blog Team
The blog team for the CBE conference is Marion, Susan, JJ, Carolyn, Lucy, Andy, Beulah, Shari, Sara, and myself. Two are from Pennsylvania, the rest are from Minnesota, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Canada, and India. We have two information technology specialists, an editor, an executive director of a religious nonprofit organization, a couple of professors, a pastor, a church planter, a seminary student, and a retired health care worker. Here’s what they say about why they are coming to this conference.
Access to current and hard to find literature. On-going awareness of patrarchialism and the frustations of the average female worker and those who are in abusive situations.
I believe in Biblical equality and the necessity of understanding how to defend it. I want to meet others who feel likewise.
I believe in the cause and have pioneered in my conservative denomination for expanded women’s ministry opportunities.
Strong, intelligent women are getting rough treatment from the church. Top-down leadership is bad for marriages.
I always thought there was more to Christian women than “be quiet, don’t preach,” and when a friend introducted me to CBE, it was love at first sight. I’d like to do what I can to reduce inequality in the world, and this is one small way to let people know God loves everybody no matter what their body is.
I believe in the vision of CBE and feel that the lack of, or misunderstanding of, Biblical equality has far-reaching consequences that need to be addressed and dialogued about.
I’m convinced the issue has affected my own career and affects millions of women in India. It is depriving the church and missions of both workers and leaders.
