Thanks, Rich for the kind words. I work for the Nazarenes and they aren't sex-biased, and neither is my own denomination, the RCA. It's just that my own church is, and it is so sad to see.

I think that these days most protestants are Christians first and denominationalists second (or third or fourth or fifth...). I, too, prefer to look back in history for sanity, because I would hate to think that I am spiritually descended from the Roman Catholics.

A fine recipe indeed, and an interesting blog on a worthy topic. As I am sure you are aware, there are many churches out there and not all are so sex-biased. I heard the head of a local Baptist college tell the incoming freshman (and women) that "all Catholics would burn in Hell." Yes, seriously, over a P.A. system and all. Amazing the differences in theology we can come across.

I'm a Lutheran second, and a Christian first. I don't think there can be certainty in many of the subtle aspects of Christianity, but that is where Faith comes in. Each of us does our own study and comes to our own faithful understanding. I found The Augsburg Confession, which is one of the founding papers of the Lutheran Church, to be of great help after reading too many contemporary theologians' dissertations on process theology, systematic theology, deism, theism and spirituality. For me it all comes back to Jesus and his words in red.

You have a good cause, and I wish you the best results.

Yours with Christ,

Rich Hall
